It's uncanny to me that the more attempts he has at the plate, the worse Mateo looks.  Most people improve with practice and repetition.

Mateo's statcast numbers and his swing decisions have improved since last year but his results are worse. I'm not really sure what to make of him with the bat.  I think he should be better than this.

 

What's more concerning is that his defense has fallen off quite a bit.  If you're going to hit .220 you have to be a great defender and he's taken a pretty big step back from last year.  He's still above average but not by nearly enough.

I'm watching on MASN streaming and they show the same PenFed and FanDuel commercials during every break and it's starting to make me insane.
