I wouldn't blame him. Wainwright got to 200 wins but it took him getting bludgeoned the whole year. If KC wants to try to turn the corner they aren't bringing him back, I don't know what team would. He's been awful.

I wouldn’t say he’s been awful unless you’re only looking at W-L.  He’s been mediocre but can still eat some innings for a bad team.

You could pick a AAAA pitcher and pay him the league minimum for that production, why give 9M dollars to him? He's not going to take the league minimum.
