I don’t like or take kindly to podcasts or fans disparaging Orioles players by suggesting they place themselves above the team. You shouldn’t either. The amount of vitriolic comments posed by orioles fans, particularly ones marinated in the years of woe from previous managers/owners seems to have warped their brains into the hopeful shoe drop. I respond in kind like killing a fly with a swatter.

I think it's pretty juvenile to think that players never put themselves ahead of the team.

I have never been on a message board like this one, especially one where the team is actually good now like the Os, where there are some many vitriolic and mean spirited people towards other Orioles fans.  I mean, everyone is going to have differences of opinion but some here get so personal.

I find it really off putting and odd.

I guess the harness racing boards are like My Little Pony episodes because this board is tame compared to most.

Some players, sure, but in what way do you suggest these guys are doing that? That’s why scouting is so important and it’s pretty clear Elias and company have a pretty specific player profile in mind. Again, don’t disparage our guys and there are no problems.

I'm just speaking in a general sense.

If players are doing it, odds are pretty good that sometimes it's guys that play for the team you like.

I don’t find anything I said to be mean spirited in any way. In actuality, I’m only sticking up for our team and attempting to thwart negativity. I do not like to see a team, filled with players that are undoubtedly good dudes, to be marred with the albatross of “he cares more about war than the team”. Screw that.

I find the amount of white knights running around pretty amusing.  Folks all over the internet like jumping in to defend things.

I don't think "our team" needs anyone sticking up for them.

But hey, to each their own.

It wouldn’t be a necessary evil if Orioles fans didn’t rejoice in shitting all over the team they presume to love and enjoy watching. Just look at this thread when a guy has a bad month. It is what it is. The circle of life. But you’re right it is pretty amusing.

I post on the Colts boards (which are pretty tame) and am a stock day trader so I am om many stock boards as well....stock boards where everyone is competing against everyone else to actually MAKE MONEY.   Real money.  Not just rooting for a team.  As in there is a real reason to kind of be a ****.  And it isn't near as bad there as it is here at times.

Horse racing boards I don't post on.  But most people in that business are very kind and wish well for others.  Kind of a big family.

I didn't mean you specifically at all.  You seem like a good guy.  I was just talking in general.

The hate for Cowser is the one that I find amazing.  The guys is fun, nice, aesthetic and has shown signs of being a really REALLY good player.

But wow do some on here dislike him.

Despair isn’t usually a fan of joy. Seriously though, just watch The Chill and realize who these dudes really are. Besides, Cowser is the odds on favorite to win rookie of the year, giving us another comp pick, and furthering the window of competitive baseball in Baltimore. Are these bitter husks of men fans of the team or are they fans of misery? That’s the real question.

Anyway, back to Cowser, looks like he is getting back to form and at a perfect time to come back to New York which saw his first ever game as an Oriole.

So much hyperbole.

No one HATES Cowser.

Why would they?

You can be critical without it devolving into hate.

That isn't true, Luis Gil is, followed by Mason Miller, then Wilyer Abreu, then Cowser. It's not April, it's June.

    • I don't think it is really the past 5 games.  It is the next 4 months, potential playoffs, and all of next year that has people concerned.  Remember these elbows aren't just taking guys out this year, but most of next year as well. And Burnes probably won't be around next either.
    • It is just a real shame that the Os are going through all of these elbows.  Take away all of the elbows going back to last year with Felix and I would say the Os are a lock to get to the WS and would have a great chance to win it all. I haven't seen this many injuries from a teams top guys in such a short amount of time in maybe.....forever. I am starting to wonder if it is something the Os are doing as far as their training.   Trying to obtain too much spin, revs, and velocity. I am a big Colts fan and for years we have complained about all of the knee blowouts and hammy injuries they get when playing at home.  Finally the Colts realized that it might be turf related from their home field and replaced it this past spring.
    • I've been a fan for a long time too but mostly remember a lot of near misses, not tailspin collapses. 2005 comes to mind (Raffygate, Sammy Sosa, Lee Mazzilli, et al.)... what other seasons are you thinking of, to create scar tissue?
    • I really like Kremer.  Seems like a good guy and a solid arm. But he is not going to be the guy to get you into the playoffs and he especially won't be a guy between a make or break WS championship.
    • We can hope he’s back to being his #5 self, but he’ll now be a #3, and let’s all x the fingers
    • The 5 game losing streak is a 5 game losing streak.  I am not too concerned about that unless it turns into something bigger. Every team goes through it.  What I am concerned about is losing 3 starters and 2 great relievers since last August with not a lot to replace them other than Burnes.  And they won't even back for most of next year...if at all. Add in the fact that Burnes is more than likely leaving after this year?  Our cupboard pitching wise is pretty bare as it looks right now. So imo you absolutely need to trade some of your AA and AAA players to get pitching help now and for next year.  This team is too good to waste years on players like GH and AR.
    • Trading Drew Rom for Flaherty was not a big swing. It was trading a maybe prospect for a “hope he’s ok” guy with three months before FA. I am increasingly convinced Mike won’t make any bigger move this season, and what we have is basically what we will have.
