The gap between MLB-NPB-KBO isn't what it used to be.

I'm not sure what the average OPS is in KBO, but you have guys like Ronnie Dawson OPS'ing just south of 1.000. There are many examples of players who never sniffed the majors hitting like that in the KBO. I assume Jones was more talented than all of them.

Terrible move.  Absolutely stupid.

I'd been reliably informed by really smart people that McKenna is better than Hays.

How could Elias be so dumb?!?!?!?!?!

Wait a second.  Moose is the one who said it but you said you were informed by really smart people.   Who else said it?    🙂

I think he’d rather sign a minor league contract with a team that has less outfield talent and depth than the Orioles.

He’s a Hays injury away from another chance.   You can’t beat those odds anywhere else.

Fun fact: McKenna now has the right to reject an assignment if unclaimed. From MLBTR:

He went unclaimed on outright waivers at the end of March, and in doing so gained the right to reject any additional outright assignments for the remainder of his career. As such, if he clears waivers, he’ll have the right to reject a minor league assignment in favor of free agency. Given the glut of outfield talent on the Baltimore roster, it’s possible he’d prefer to latch on with another organization that has far less depth and thus a better opportunity for him to get an earnest look at the big league level.

"an earnest look at the big league level" - LOL

Who does he have a better chance to play in the majors with this year?  If he goes unclaimed that means no other team wants him right now.   He can go to the minors for one of those teams or go to Norfolk for the one team in baseball who wants him on their 26-man roster, sometimes.

He's better than anyone on the Yankees bench.
