They've got to feel good holding 1st place despite whatever aliens have inhabited Julio Rodriguez's body.

I recently heard "the curse of Robinson Cano" as a label on their long-term 2B struggles.    2018 was Cano's last good year for them, and 2019-2024, their 2B WAA has run:

17th, Dee Gordon

18th, Shed Long

18th, Abraham Toro/Dylan Moore

24th, Adam Frazier

23rd, Kolten Wong

20th, Jorge Polanco

They have a 1/12 option for 2025 on Polanco if he plays well enough to stop the revolving door, but if he's washed up as 30+ second basemen often are, the Orioles do have all these young infielders and the Mariners have all these pitchers..

Big weekend up in their corner of the country as they have an opportunity to really break open the division.

They opted to push Luis Castillo back a day to open a Rangers series last night, and he rewarded them with a win to get the lead to 6.5 games.    Michael Baumann a 7th inning hold as the manager's choice in a 3-2 ballgame.

Kirby and Gilbert today tomorrow to try and make it 8.5 with much of the rest of the division melting around them.

AL playoff dynamics could get awfully tame if NYY-CLE-SEA-BAL lock and everyone else recedes from KCR-MIN for 5/6.

I have to think that 5/6 will get more competitive, at least.

I would love to see Seattle win. They seem to have such a fun team even when they aren’t scoring, which is usually.

But definitely they have some pitching

Seattle has been building momentum. This could be the year they flower. They kinda scare me more than the Yankees in the playoffs.

We won’t have to play them until LCS unless they fall to WC spot.
