If we make a trade or 2 soon and bring in better arms, so be it.  No issue with the decision but barring that, I’m not seeing the need to do it.

Of course, it’s not definite he’s gone either.

Tate and Baumann are basically the same guy imo.  If Baumann had options and Tate didn’t I think Tate gets DFA’d.   Akin is pitching better than Baumann so I would rather keep the better pitcher when we are trying to win.  As Tony said we have a few right hand guys that are options if we need down in the minors in Tate, Healsey, Stowd who I think are about the same as Baumann and have an option.

I guess I'm wrong. Thanks for the info.

I will be surprised if Baumann gets claimed.  I think he will be in AAA and that was part of the calculus for the move.

I’m the opposite. I think he gets claimed. Ton of bad teams would give him a look.

It’ll be curious to see what happens.  I see a guy that can’t throw strikes and when he does he gets hammered with meh stuff.  A 4.5 era 1.44 whip guy with significantly less Ks than IP is a dime a dozen in MLB.

And so, some good looking outings along with equal ugly outings. Sort of like most of our relievers (though for most, maybe more of a 2:1 ratio of good to bad).

There are a lot of bad teams in the league like @eddie83 mentioned and I have to think one of them will take a flyer on Baumann. I'd prefer he slip through waivers because there's a decent chance we could use him as a mop up pitcher later this summer.

I will be shocked if he isn’t claimed. Shocked.  Worse guys than him are claimed all the time.

The fact that they put this on the 1991 Donruss, perhaps the ultimate peak of the junk wax era, makes this even funnier to me.  If toilet paper ever shot up in price I wouldn't care because I've got heaps of '91 Donruss floating around.

My hope is that someone will be anxious to have him and will trade us something in order to jump the line.
