I think most of us were guessing that would not happen.  Is it possible to trade Baumann?  I forget the parameters.  Is it if multiple teams claim him?

I am shocked at this. I didn't think Elias would let him go for nothing. I expected an Akin option for now.

If he's claimed, and he almost certainly will be, I wish him the best of luck. He may never be more than a replacement level reliever or slightly better, but those guys often stick around a while filling out bullpens. And most minor league pitchers would sign in blood for that.

It gives them x days to trade him before releasing him. They may already have something in the works…

He hasn’t been waived.  They have 10 days to trade him or put him on waivers.

Someone check on Elias, make sure he is ok.  Maybe there is an emergency GM temporarily taking his place.

Well, it was either him or Cionel Perez unless they optioned Akin.   I think Baumann has slightly better stuff than Perez but he’s less reliable and he’s not LH.

I don’t think most of us expected that. Most of us expected Akin to be optioned.

Honestly very surprised they didn't use Akin's option.
