I do?

I don't really expect any national guy to be able to spend enough time on the vast majority of prospects to be able to give a truly comprehensive opinion on their ability to stick at the major league level.

Now in some cases it's obvious, Mountcastle wasn't going to stay at Short, Adley was going to stick at Catcher, but beyond that.  Not really.  I read the stuff, I enjoy it, but I don't put a huge amount of weight to it.

I think a lot of guys Gunnar's size don't stay at Shortstop.  These guys don't see him every day, they don't experience his work ethic.  We had a lot of guys on the board here last season that wanted him at Third.

If they don’t know, they shouldn’t say it.  It took me two games to see a Gunnar could stick.  Don’t act as if you know, if you don’t.  Similarly, I have seen plenty of guys described as average runners that end up being plus or even plus plus.  If you don’t think a lot of guys his size can stick, then say just that.

Will Hyde burn one more reliever in a game we are down 3?

I think it's Akin unless we score multiple runs.   Then Cano might be in play.

Does Basallo throw people out?  Maybe Adley can be DH backup catcher if Basallo can actually throw out a guy once in a while.

From what I understand, Basallo has a lot of work to do to play catcher at a sufficient level for the majors. As a catcher, he's a work in progress. As a hitter, he's a prodigy.

Palmer also thinks Ryan McKenna is a good player. I know he's your friend, and he's an Orioles HoFer, but I don't know if I'm using "Palmer agrees with me" when it comes to player evaluations.

I heard him on the radio with Rob Long in a cringeworthy interviews that went from him calling McKenna a really good player and ended with him having a personal conversation about the weather and whether Long was doing games this weekend.

I don’t know…remember what happened with Yaz in SF.   😭

Basallo has a good arm but guys are stealing off the pitchers tonight.

I value Palmer's judgement as much or more than anyone I know or have known in baseball...

I've learned ALOT about pitching tactics and baseball just from listening to him.

I can't say I always agree with every opinion about every player, but I certainly have the utmost respect for his baseball knowledge.

    • Agreed, his defense has been way better than expected. He's still probably a starting OF as long as Mullins and Hays struggle. And if he lands at .763 overall I would be fine with that level of production. Still disappointing that he followed up his 1.000 April with a .600 May. June could be a big month for him. Otherwise we may see more Hays vs LHP or even Kjerstad.
    • Gerrit Cole shouldn't need load management.
    • Mayo coming back from injury could have his debut in Baltimore delayed.
    • Wasn't a huge fan of his swing for that last out today but coming in to pinch hit with 2 outs isn't easy.
    • Interpreting Malike's comment that way is theoretically possible, but I didn't take it that way--didn't feel that shade was being thrown on me at all. But thanks for the concern.
    • People are being a bit ridiculous with the holier than thou takes criticizing a little humor. I am not saying what happened couldn’t cause a significant concussion, but it would be a bit of a fluke if it did. Mullins barely hit him with the bat and he had a helmet on. The fact that it was in the back of the head did make him more vulnerable, but this wasn’t the type of thing you see and think he was lucky to be alive.  Guys have probably hit their heads harder on the top of the dugout or on the fence making catches.  And note this comes from someone whose son has suffered severe concussions and who is well aware of the dangers associated with them. In short, people need to lighten up a bit on guys like Roy.  It was a little gallows humor.
    • Yeah, you read that wrong. LA2 is one of my favorite posters here and he knows it. No harm, no foul. If you aren't familiar with the game threads, it doesn't matter what the team is doing, people complain about it and people did make that same joke in the game thread long before Roy said it here. Game thread in summary - when the O's are not doing well, it's insufferable, when they are doing well, it's mildly less insufferable. There, that wasn't hard. I'd appreciate it if you didn't assume I'm throwing shade at people. I'll leave that up to you to do, you're really good at it.
