The 2024 Trade Deadline

Recommended Posts

So just in the last hour in this thread we need 2 starters, 2 relievers one a closer.  A right handed veteran 1st baseman, a right handed outfield and a backup catcher all while there is another thread suggesting we need to fire Hyde.  If we need all these things and Hyde has us playing .600 baseball he needs an extension not to be fired based on how bad the roster must be to need to overhaul 7 of the 26 guys.

Four tiers of relievers organized by YTD K-BB:

A - Yimi Garcia 29, Mark Leiter 25, Andrew Nardi 24, John Brebbia 23, AJ Puk 23

B - Mike Soroka 22, Carlos Estevez 21, Sam Moll 21, Justin Wilson 21

C - Nate Pearson 19, Andrew Chafin 19, Nick Martinez 19, Michael Kopech 18

D - Lucas Erceg 17, Shelby Miller 16, Tanner Scott 14, Hector Neris 8

Both Tanner Scott and AJ Puk's YTD numbers sandbagged by horrible Aprils.    If you toggle to Last 30 Days, they pop to 1-2 on the list.

Any rumors about who the Orioles were looking at during this Marlins series?  You have to imagine they were getting some free scouting in.

Current names rumored include Jazz Chisholm, Tanner Scott, A.J. Puk, Bryan De La Cruz and Jesus Sanchez - we already know most of that but I was wondering if we have anything on the Orioles side of it

Playing just over .500 ball for 50 games will do that.

We got some flaws.

They would have nothing to gain but to set the best odds for them. Keep in mind the favorite for the bet is that Mullins remains an Oriole.

I just don't see how their view has any more importance than what Sports guy thinks.

It just hit me as the volume on veteran RH bat rumors increases that George Springer is a legacy just like Rio Ruiz.    He commands in the low 20 millions next year like Chris Bassitt, and has yet another year at 1/22.5 in 2026 as the jewel contract he earned earlier in his career expires.

He'd obviously be a James McCann buy side trade for a team like the Orioles, but assuming some of his financial obligation could lessen the talent needed to obtain Garcia, Pearson, Green, Kikuchi or Bassitt.     The 2017 World Series MVP, George Springer has proven he knows how to win.

As the Blue Jays rotation turns, it looks like they have SP5 Yariel Rodriguez and a 6th starter fill-in as their scheduled guys for the Monday doubleheader at OPACY.

Kikuchi, Gausman and Berrios scheduled to take the ball for them against Texas this weekend.

News flash.  The Orioles are rumored to be interested in EVERYONE and every BS Twitter rumor will be posted in this thread.

Nope. Not even mentioned on the gambling sites with Rooker, Arozarena, Flaherty, Chisholm, and Pham.

We’re listed as the favorite for Kikuchi. The 3rd favorite for Crochet, Skubal, and Scott.
