You guys that are on top of this are genius level.

As of this morning, is there an easy way to summarize the magic number for :

A) clinching playoff spot

B) #1 Wild Card

or too many moving parts?

Here is a summary for you:

The chances of us doing anything other than hosting a WC round are extremely low. Not enough baseball left for a team to make up four games.

I am pretty sure we are in with a win and Mariners loss.  I have seen 2 Mariners losses because if we have to go up against Astros in head to head, if Mariners win division but that doesn’t make sense since a loss gives them 76 which we can’t get too.
The # 1 WC depends on if the West is won by the Mariners or Astros but it most likely is 3 if one of the wins is vs the Tigers or Twins.

How can the Yankees clinch the division by Monday when the Orioles and Yankees don’t play until Tuesday? 🤦‍♂️

It must have been a typo I think.  Earliest should be Tuesday.  Best they can be on Monday is 6 up with 6 to play and head-to-head series still up for grabs.

Leading into next Wednesday or Thursday, Gerrit Cole was even greater than Corbin Burnes last night.    In both clubs cases will be interesting to see if they pick 4 days rest Friday to Wednesday, or 5 days rest Friday to Thursday.

One of them is pitching another Tuesday hence.

Gil goes tomorrow, we'll see Cortes, Cole, and Rodon I'd assume.

Well that’s stupid. Why not line it up to get Burnes in Game 1?

Burnes can pitch on normal rest and lineup for Game 1. Thurs against NY and Tuesday for Game 1.  Eflin and others may need to be moved around. Kremer/Suarez combo for Game 3 (if necessary).

The Twins series likely won’t matter for us, unless the Yankees tank. This will allow some flexibility to skip guys to line them up for the following week.
