I’m just hoping that Grayson, having had a previous lat injury, caught this one a little more quickly and can recover faster than he did in 2022.   But that’s probably wishful thinking.

Still, better this than an elbow or a shoulder.   The worst this injury can do is screw up the rest of 2024.

I absolutely don’t see us winning the division if Grayson is out for the rest of the year.  That’s one body blow too many.

Was a Grade 2 strain last time (2022), came out of game, was throwing max effort. Came back in 3 months, but way off walking 14 in 19 innings, 4+ ERA. Was only throwing long ball in OF this time, so maybe its just a Grade 1 strain. Almost 2 months til Playoffs so maybe by then. Hoping for the best.

The real issue is if he's out until the playoffs can we even make it there with:

Burnes

Eflin

Kremer

Rogers

Suarez/Povich

Fair Should not assume playoffs, but they could make it with those, would need big help from the offense.

This sucks really bad.

We’re still going to make the playoffs. Eflin is a legit #2 or #3. Kremer is a bulldog and has been here before. Kremer has good stuff. Suarez had a heck of a start tonight. Rogers had one bad start, but he will be ok, just not sexy.

Take a breath. Suarez has been in the rotation all year and we’ve had one of the best records in the AL with that.

The offense has to step up.

His last lat issue was a three and a half month issue. He's not coming back this season.

probably not, but last time 3 months exactly, not that would do us any good. And last time was a grade 2 sprain, this one could be milder. Also in 2022, when he did come back was no the same, walked 14 in 19 innings 4+ ERA so maybe we dont even want him back.

The team has to carry on somehow . Go for broke and see where the chips land .  Very few teams , if any, can absorb this many injuries .

The Dodgers are although we will see for the playoffs.

Last year we had a playoff rotation of Bradish/rookie GrayRod/Kremer. It’s probably better this year even without him.

Still hoping he can make it back for the playoffs, but we cruised going in last year with a comparable rotation so definitely still hoping we can keep it together.

Grayson has always felt like a ticking time bomb considering the rate of injury nowadays for SPs that regularly throw 97+ mph. He’s been remarkably healthy in his career to date considering that risk.

Lat injury is still better than shoulder/elbow/forearm, although it is concerning it’s a recurring injury now and could indicate some more chronic physical/mechanical issue. And for this season, if it’s the same severity as last time it makes no difference, he’s out for the year.

This is a big blow to the odds of winning the division and, by extension, huge hit to the World Series odds (both by higher chance of needing to play the wildcard round and by potentially not having Grayson in the playoffs).

They still have a 5 game lead on the Red Sox for the final wildcard spot, and a much better team.  A lot more would still need to go wrong for that to be in jeopardy. The offense should still be enough to carry them for the regular season - it’s just looking increasingly likely they’ll need to do that in the playoffs too if they are going to make a run.

Now seems like a good moment if a Club wanting to find someone else to pay a bad, expensive contract on a waiver claim would see if Elias might bite.     Hector Neris was the top profiled individual in the ESPN story I saw recalling Giolito, etc. last year.

We have actually made it a decent number of days into August without any of it, which big picture I think is healthy for the game.

The short window Bradish looked good, I wondered if bullpen Grayson might be a scenario that could be considered.    Obviously today everything is a blank slate.

I admit I did just see what Patrick Corbin is drawing - the Lerners pushed $35M+ of it to this final year of the 6-year term, so that is a very poison pill even for 7 weeks.
