You may want to read it again. I was replying to a previous post. I didn't say he was never an ace in his career. I said he was never really an ace this year. He was the best starter on the Orioles for a while. That's not the same as an ace, in my book. No shutouts, not even one. Prone to the HR. Low K's. And so on.

How many people are really aces? That is the most thrown around title and there probably isn't a true ace on every 5th team. It is almost like you have to go year to year to find aces.

He may be the best player in baseball history.

Let's not get too excited now, eh. Being the best player in history requires being the best hitter in history or the best pitcher in history. Not a really, really good both.

Our mighty top of the order awaits.

Well I can’t fault Hyde for using Kimbrel here   Might as well

Maybe tomorrow, the O's will have a starter that can get thru 5 innings w/o giving up 6 runs and it will be worth using our good relievers.

I don’t know. A really really good both  seems way better…particularly in this age of the hyper specialized F1 athlete.

He only gave up 5 hits and walked none.  He gave up a homer to Ohtani and threw an awful pitch to Hernandez.  He still has to get out of the 3rd inning and get a big out in that situation which he hasn’t been able to do lately.

He imploded after a lead off error to the #9 hitter and allowed 4 runs.  He threw too many non competitive in key situations. He allows 4 SB.  This is from you Ace he's been awful all month.  I'm sorry, no he was bad.  Yes, could things be better if the defense was a little better, yes.  But let's be honest, he's your ace and he should be better than that.  And btw, the aftermnetioned air before imploding, he was ahead of the #9 0-2 and then 2 of the pitchers weren't even close to the strikezone. and it got a 3-2 count and the ball was hit well.  In a later inning he was ahead of the #9 hitter 0-2, and gave up hit that eventually led to a run.  And the next pitch was singed by Ohtani, luck it was right at someone.  Could have been far worse.

He was bad tonight, he's hasn't been good this month.
