It might not need to be stated to you but sometimes feels like it does to many others, LOL.  We all know the hand wringing that will occur if we lose game 1 in Denver.  'If we can't beat the Rockies we're toast' etc.

If we can’t beat the Rockies, we ARE toast.

Some silver linings from this game:

Soto was absolute filth. Bowman was good until he got gassed and Hyde overextended him.

Povich went head to head with Shohei and got him out three times. The bullpen also got him out twice.

Cowser had a nice game at the plate and three run HR's are always good to help solidify a ROY campaign.

  • 2 weeks later...

Feels like getting no hit for 26 outs against the mediocre Tigers (just after getting walked off to lose a series to the Sox) could be the "hitting bottom" moment of the season. Silver linings are badly needed.

Last night Adley had two CS's. I believe both throws were bouncers but had enough on them to beat the runners. When was the last time we had two CS's? Appears the Tigers think they have something on us and plan to run. See if that continues.

Overlooked in the Boston game, Kremer went 7 innings for the first time since April. That's 5 of 6 starts with 6 IP or more. I'm starting to feel more comfortable with him as the #3 if Grayson can't make it back (or even if he does).

Can we talk about how good Cano has been? 1.35 ERA in July, 2.31 in August. Always with the toughest matchups/highest leverage outs.

Eflin of course has been tremendous.

It's not a lot but it's something.

Three hits for Samuel Basallo adjusting to AAA on a night tempting one to turn the seriousness knob on the joke that "you haven't been Raysian until you use someone in the postseason and send them to AAA the next spring" from 0% to 1%.

There's still 2+ weeks of baseball before Festivus and I'm not sure if Ryan O'Hearn or a third of the lineup is better than Samuel Basallo today.

Given what we’ve seen from Holliday and Mayo, both of whom straight up raked at AAA, what possibly would give anyone the idea that Basallo could do any better?  Even a lousy O’Hearn has been better those guys. Plus how good at first is Basallo?

Zero chance this happens, nor should it. I have no idea why our prospects struggle to the extent they do when called up, but it’s a pattern and I have no desire to see another top guy up here flailing away and generally looking like he’s never held a bat before.

At least when they’re in AAA we can still dream on them a little bit. Then they come up and it’s more like nightmare fuel.
