Not sure if this is intended to be a serious post or something else but Guinness is not meant to be served at room temperature. It is best served cold to maintain the CO2. Maybe this is a personal preference?

When the beer is too cold, it numbs your taste buds, and you don’t get the full flavor.
I’ve always been told to drink English beer at room temperature, and I do and it tastes delicious.

American beer needs to be cold, but not too cold.

And yes, it was just a joke in reference to the “, ain’t the beer cold”

I'm Irish-American so I can be a bit of a snob about it. I didn't connect the Chuck Thompson reference sorry. To be clear, Guinness is an Irish beer and not an English beer 😃. Even though it is intended to be served cold, you are free to enjoy it anyway you like it. I actually like Smithwick's much better than Guinness. It is a Red Ale.

Like Disney in the US, Guinness owns everything in Ireland including Harp, Kilkenny, and Smithwick's beers. They actually paid for the resoration of St. Patrick's Cathedral in Dublin.

A deep seated rivalry down south in the hot confines of my native abode, the firey inhospitable land of The Alamo where men like Houston made their proclamation, “Y’all can go to Hell, I’m going to Texas.”

You can have your sausages, turkey and beef, just let them take care of the pork ribs

I think that was Davy Crockett, but your point is well made.

Depends on the style! Pilsners and lagers in general are cold fermented/aged and best served that way. Your top of the line Belgian/trappist darker beers want to be about 50 degrees

Every English beer wants to grow up and be an Irish beer.

Tell me more…I usually get the New Belgian brands or Sam Adams, but would be happy for some suggestions. I drink one beer during a game and I’m almost out of 1554, so need to load up again.

3 brands to start with (truly finish with, you won’t need anything else): Chimay, Delirium and Rochefort. A good store will have them (Total Wine for example).

Houstons quote is one of my alltime quotes from history.

Guinness is a 75/25 nitrogen to CO2 mixed gas. The nitrogen has smaller bubbles, thus creating the smoother mouth feel and secondarily that fun look as it is poured. That is also why you can take a can with the widget in it and pour it into a glass with out being too careful, unlike CO2 which foams over.
You can pour Guinness on a CO2 system(it is not recommended) however the PSI needs to be higher on that line than your typical CO2 beers.

I've already mentioned my favorite beer is Smithwick's (pronounced Smid-ick's) It is a Red Ale that is smooth and creamy. It is not heavy or bitter like Guinness. It can be hard to find. It is how I tell the difference between a real Irish Pub and an Irish themed bar. If they serve Smithwick's thay are the real deal.

I like Smithwick's too.   There used to be a stand at Ravens Stadium right near the entrance I go in to my season ticket seats that sold Guinness / Harp / Smithwick's.   I'd grab one on the way to my seats for the first half.

But the stand went away a few years ago.
