Not a terrible decision to go for it with one out but that slide wasn't great. His fingers were above the base and I think he could've beaten it.

Geez, O'Hearn can't even hit righties any more.  Mountcastle may not be any better with the bat but his defense is better.

This team could flip a coin ten times and come up tails every one of them. Absolutely 100% snake bit.

I thought that was a decent attempt.  He was out by an eyelash and Cowser couldn't have expected that the pitcher would have been able to cover that falling off to the first base side.  It just sucks that they executed perfectly.

 

That's the kind of play where around 10% of the time the ball ends up getting past the pitcher and allows Cowser to score.  It's really hard to make a good throw from shortstop to 3rd base on a tag play because you're throwing right into the runner's base line.

Is that a Mansolino thing? Did he tell him to slide to the left side of the bag?

Or some weird combination of things happening that keeps them percentage points out of playoffs on the last day.

1 XBH and 4 runs in their last 16 innings. After they lose today, they will have lost 12 of their last 13 series against teams that aren't COL or CHW and will have 0 series wins against teams over .500 since 7/4.

Can't hit, definitely can't hit with RISP, don't run the bases particularly well, and are bad defensively. This team just sucks.

Too patient. Didn’t think I’d say that but that’s what it seems to be. Different symptom of the same problem as all the Called Strikes I keep complaining about. We watch both good and bad pitches sail on by way too often.
