He is but the Os need to develop Mayo defensively. Improvements will be made.  These guys aren't all going to be learning and struggling for much longer. The offseason exists for many reasons...getting better is one of them.

Someone brought up Ward from Angels as a trade opportunity. I do think RH is the most important piece to add to the hitters this winter.

There really doesn't seem to be anything available on the free agent market in terms of mid-priced position players that would supplement our roster.

Hudson Haskin showed promise in '23 but battled injuries. He had a rough season this year, but he still did hit lefties pretty well with an OPS of .865. Like pretty much everyone else that Elias has drafted, he strikes out too much. But, it would be good to see him compete in the spring to be an inexpensive 4th/5th OF option to play vs lefties, and come in for solid defense.

If what you are saying is accurate, I would agree it’s not worth keeping him around. I just don’t think it’s accurate.

I thought he got the Tommy John brace procedure w/ a recovery time of around 11 month.  Of course recovery time might be different for position players.

I think a big key is that its his non throwing arm.  We have seen position players come back from TJ surgery much quicker.

The other side is, even if he is out for a few months, they may be able to sign him cheaper and he just becomes a bench piece for the second half. I still think they might do that.

Forgot it was his non throwing arm.  Well then I guess he could be good to go.

      As of today, we have 3 lefties in the OF. He will have plenty of at bats here.  I wouldn't start him everyday persay but 350-450 at bats will be fine.

      For me, he’d be the 4th outfielder so he’d likely have to do both. He could spell all three of Mullins/Cowser/Kjerstad at any given time. I would argue positionally a RH OF might be out biggest need in fact, so if not O’Neil, someone else of that ilk.

      I would consider adding Tommy Pham in our McKenna/Slater role......he's a better bat and it pretty much guarantees that we'll be in the playoffs again.  He always gets there. Yes, I'm serious.

      Alonso would be the worst possible signing for us. All he does is hit for power, and even that might be waning, even before you stick him in Oriole Park with that LF wall. That is the hardest of passes.    Martinez is very meh. That dude is going to fall off a cliff at some point soon, I’d rather it not be while the Os are paying him.    Could get on board with O’Neill for sure, if the price is reasonable. Major upgrade over the Slater/Hays combo from 2024, if he could stay healthy.

      Lot of great crowds at these games so far in fact (throwing stuff onto the field notwithstanding). Yankees crowd I must begrudgingly admit was pretty raucous you could hear drum beats, maybe the occasional horn, in addition to their usual annoying chanting and sound effects. Phillies always have great crowds. SD and LA turning it up a notch. Detroit and Mets and KC will almost certainly add to that list shortly. Makes it that much more fun to watch.
