Who are the hidden gems of this year's draft?

Recommended Posts

The last two years we've done a great job of drafting the signability guys and getting them into our system (Arrieta, Bundy etc.). Who are the guys who potentially could be there this year if we are willing to pay more? And why are they slipping?

There is a kid by the name of Mac Clapsaddle, who is playing for Oviedo, Florida HS. He's about 6-05, 210, RHP who can reach 96-97, but comfortably works in the 92-94 range. Secondary pitches need refinement, but he's a good athlete with great toughness and attitude. He's got a full ride to Georgia, and several clubs are scared off by that. He projects to go in rounds 2-3, but he's looking for 1st round money or he'll go to Georgia. I know the family and they are great people.

He used to pitch for Lake Highland Prep under Franky Viola, yes...that Franky Viola. He's learned from one of the greats and he'll be a high 1st rounder in three years if he goes to Georgia.

Very cleanly Shaven :) But the best gem of this draft IMO will be Krol. You may wanna consider Dyson a gem, if not for his labrum injury, he may be a top 15 guy, but was never able to gain much hype for the draft due to inconsistent performances, but his stuff is very much still there and teams may be able to draft a guy with top 15 stuff in the 2nd round......
