Well, it had to happen. Didn't it?

Yep: the independent Sonoma Stompers of the Pacific Association handed the baseball operations keys over to these two knuckleheads with zero actual baseball experience in order to see how it?d all work. Over the weekend Sam wrote a column about it at the New York Timestalking about what worked and what didn?t.

A pretty interesting article. Surprised no one has commented on it.

Seems like they tried a lot of different things that go against the "book" and some of them worked, but that their people skills were an issue.

Yeah, I think the stat heads here are embarrassed by the outcome. ;)

Typically, as with these guys, it's more difficult to implement these ideas if you can't communicate them to players who likely don't respect someone because they have no practical experience.
