Report: Arod signs with the Yankees

John Sterling just said that A-Rod has signed a 10-year, $257 million deal. I don't if this is for sure but that's the word right now. Hopefully this will get the ball rolling on Miggy and some of our other deals.

There isn't any truth to it. That was a number bantered about by Dibble and Kennedy on the Show (XM).

In his statement, Rodriguez referenced potential sacrifices -- which would include taking less money to account for the $21 million subsidary from the Rangers he cost them by opting out.

"I also understand that I had to respond to certain Yankees concerns, and I was receptive and understanding of that situation," Rodriguez said. "Cynthia and I have since spoken directly with the Steinbrenner family. During these healthy discussions, both sides were able to share honest feelings and hopes with one another, and we expect to continue this dialogue with the Yankees over the next few days."

The next big obstacle is the involvement of agent Scott Boras in potential negotiations.

Yeah, just tuned into WFAN and Mike and the Mad Dog are talking like it's a done deal.

They're also talking about how Johnny Damon was a sex symbol to every thirteen year old girl in Boston when he was w/ the Red Sox so I'm not really sure what is going on.

I was certainly looking for a more competative balance in the AL east without him around.

On ESPN Buster Olney says that AROD went behind Boras' back and is reportedly close to a deal with the Yanks because he wants to play there. He doesn't say for how much or how long.

Now on the sports flash they are saying that AROD is negotiating w/ the Yanks and no done deal, but that John Sterling says it's as good as done.

I knew it all along. Arod and the Yankees are made for each other.

I do hope this doesn't drag on though, we need to trade Miggy and start getting our future in order.
