MLB.com reporting Nolan Reimold to the DL. He was a late scratch from the line-up. Baltimore Sun reporting:

** Nolan Reimold, who was scheduled to bat leadoff here as the starting designated hitter, was scratched from tonight’s starting lineup. Third baseman Jonathan Schoop will move from No. 9 to leadoff and minor leaguer Chris Marrero is the new DH hitting out of the No. 9 spot.

Reimold’s removal is peculiar. He is attempting a comeback from multiple neck surgeries over the past two years and hasn’t played in the field much this spring. He also went to minor league camp for more at-bats to get his timing after missing the majority of the past two seasons.

It’s uncertain if Reimold could be heading to the DL, but not playing him today would allow the Orioles to backdate any DL stint to Saturday.

Reimold hasn't played OF often this spring, having issues looking upward with neck. #orioles

Reimold didn't have a setback. Can bat but still not able to play OF comfortably. #Orioles

Reimold headed to DL #Orioles

More to come.

Perhaps he is heading to the DL, but the Sun article doesn't say that he is for sure. I couldn't find anything on it on MLB.com.

Is Reimold never not on the DL?

It must be close to opening day.

Norman Reimold on the DL?

I'm in shock.

I can't believe it. No, correct that, I won't believe it! It's just too far out of the realm of possibility in my book.

It is remarkable how the same tired joke just kept getting funnier and funnier as it kept get repeated in this thread.

Comedy writers should take note.

Yea, Reimold had a history with injuries, we get it already. It wasn't funny in 2012, it wasn't funny in 2013 and it isn't funny now.

    • Lots of panic around here right now. Guys forget the Rangers were third in their division and only had 88 wins last season.
    • This is my favorite Basallo clip so far. The swing is so fluid, it looks so effortless and the ball is just absolutely destroyed. It reminds me of homers by prime Chris Davis.
    • The Orioles were bound to hit a rut. Get your hand off the panic button.    The Orioles aren’t signing Bauer. So just Fudget about him. The don’t need to trade Holliday and Kjerstad. I’m okay if he finds a guy worth paying a top guy return along with a few others ala Kirby, Gilbert, Castillo etc.   Stop patting yourself on the back. We lost as did everyone else to a hot Rangers team. We are still 7 up in the top wildcard slot. And as Texas proved is all you have to do is get in to have a shot.
    • It’s becoming unglued?  Because of losing streak that almost every team goes through in any given season?  Really?
    • The Os pen isn’t good. With DC out, they just don’t have any arms you want to rely on. They don’t miss a lot of bats, don’t get a lot of Ks and the walk rate is higher than you want it to be. Kimbrel is fine but nothing special. He has been exactly what I thought he would be and maybe even a little better than that but hes not what we had last year, which was special. Cano is better than a dime a dozen guy but not by a ton.    Baker looks good and maybe he’s poised to have the year some of us thought he would have in 2023 but he has a ways to go to prove that.
    • Yes, I bolded that part to indicate that was to what I was referring.
    • This group hasn’t burned you though. This is the biggest test for Elias since the team got good. The bottom line is the Os need pitching help and they have too much talent in the minors and too many subpar guys in the majors eating up at bats. You built this farm system up and are so proud of it and now it’s time to use it to its full potential.    I understand the Holliday injury likely sets him back until after the AS break, at least but assuming he’s hitting (which he has been or he’s been walking a ton) and once he is able to start throwing pain free, he needs to be up here.  Mayo needs to be up here yesterday.  It’s just time.  Sitting on ML ready top 10 prospects when below average MLers are playing in front of them just doesn’t make sense. You have a glaring weakness of too many lefties and a manager/GM that just won’t play lefties vs lefties. You have McCann playing way too much. Mayo needs to be up here right now. And then you need to use the rest of the system(and maybe ML team), not Basallo, and go get the pitching you need.
