Blow for Yankees as SP Ivan Nova suffers partially torn UCL in elbow

He was quite mediocre, and he has started slowly this year while showing a further loss of velocity. But I think it is dangerous to dismiss a guy with his credentials. He threw a pretty good game his last time out. He is traditionally a slow starter (4.12 career March/April ERA), so I won't count my chickens before they're hatched.

Not sure how much we are disagreeing.

I don't think CC is finished, I think he still has some well pitched games left in him.

I do think that his days as a stud #1 pitcher are behind him. I think he slots closer to a #3 or so now.

I'm the guy who wrote off CC, CC. :D

I'll go along with your sentiment. He is still a serviceable starting pitcher; I don't see him returning to his old form but he could conceivably reinvent himself.

His best asset remains the ability to go deep into ballgames. He's topped 200 IP every season for seven straight seasons and he doesn't walk many people. It's just that he's more hittable now. He'd probably benefit from a better defense behind him than what the Yankees have to offer.
