Let me put it differently: just winning series isn't good enough when you give away other opportunities to put distance between yourself and your division rivals (e.g., game one in Oakland). If the O's won 2 out of every 3, you're right, they'd be fine. But they haven't. "Only" winning 2/3 in this context should be viewed as a disappointment because of what the rest of the division's done, and what happened during the last series.

Look at who we are playing. Come on... it was highly likely we were going to lose at least a little bit of ground against the teams chasing us while we were on a 10 game road trip vs 3 of the top teams in the league and they were mostly at home playing weaker opponents. Are you seriously upset that we are 2-2 so far on this trip?

There will be times when we are playing easier opponents than the teams chasing us are... it's not like we have a significantly tougher overall schedule than the other AL East teams.

I personally figured we would go 4-6, now I have some hope we will do better than that.

Tex-NYY game called. Yankees win, 2-1.

Yanks got a 5 inning win.

Joe Girardi hates that rule. He thinks they should play the game to completion.

I know because he said so last week.

I'm upset that they blew the first game, and I'm mildly annoyed that they're running out their B-squad offense for tonight's game. Manny's absence can't be helped, but Lough is a bit much.

Also...if you're watching games with the expectation that they're going to lose, IMO, you're doing it wrong. They took the first two games of this series. It's not about "odds" anymore...it's just a thing that's happened. They need to take this one now.
