If I were a betting man I would guess a prospect in the 5-10 range and one lesser one.

I would be thrilled if somehow we ended up with a top 5 guy but I doubt that they give up that much.

I would be happy if Hoffman was included. The guy was labelled as one of the best pitchers in his draft class before TJ surgery. I've even read he's been compared to Verlander. I don't think that would be a bad get.

Yes, but if the Jays say Duquette is #1 and are trying to respond to him, I am guessing MLB is telling the Orioles to either respond / agree on terms OR have DD state his intentions like withdrawing his name from selection, etc.

I am sure the Jays are saying....he is who we want, he wants to be here but the O's are not respecting long established code of allowing guys to interview and accept positions that are a promotion.

Never mind the fact the Jays played it out in the media first, made their move at an inappropriate time ect...

MLB meanwhile happy to take any chance to undercut the O's I am sure is ignoring all of Toronto's actions and acting as if the Orioles are not adhering to a long respected code by negotiating in good faith with the Jays to send DD there.

Frankly I am convinced this whole thing was engineered behind the scenes by people within in MLB. I find it amazingly coincidental that this happens, the allstar game goes bye bye etc.

Bottom line is if we were not in litigation regarding MASN with MLB there is no way that Toronto would have gotten away with even 10% of what they have to this point. Good luck proving that though.

Big miscalculation by MLB, if true, IMO. PA has zero reason now to settle the lawsuit as a result, and my guess is that he kicks their butt.

There is a simple answer for that question.

Ken Rosenthal and his ilk in the mainstream media are not independent thinkers they are spoon fed baby birds eating whatever nasty stuff mommy (in this case MLB) feeds them.

IF anyone doubt that there are those within MLB helping the Jays to pull this coup off then they have lost their minds. If the Jays pulled this crap with any other team in baseball they would have been spanked and sent to their room without dinner a long time ago. MLB has quietly assisted the Jays in this agenda because of the whole MASN thing.

I don't feel we're getting a lot of solid information from Olney or other press members about exactly what MLB has done with respect to Duquette. From my own job, I'm very sensitive to the fact that the press reports a lot of stuff that is inaccurate, so I'm not inclined to get too indignant about what MLB has done based on the vague reports that have emerged to date.

BTW, I recall pretty clearly that when the O's were searching for a GM to replace MacPhail, one of the teams did not give permission to interview one of their front office guys. (Edit: actually, it was two guys -- Dan Jennings, Asst. GM of the Marlins at the time, and Mike Radcliff, VP of Player Personnel for the Twins.)
