Yahoo Sports: Jason Heyward has been a flop. And the Orioles were not wrong to avoid him.

We don't want Heyward. One of the most overrated prospects in recent memory.

His hitting to this point has been about the standard for his career. Average. Braves traded him because he was a bust. Very limited power for an OF with average speed. Braves had to bat him leadoff as they had no where else to put him and his power numbers were not good enough for a 3-5 slot.

A 25 year old who has already accumulated 21.4fWAR is "one of the most overrated prospects in recent memory"? Does defense not matter to you, because there's a certain player playing 3B for your team who gets about 80% of his value from defense too, but I doubt you'd call him overrated.

At least I'm comforted that other teams and their writers and fans also are big into declaring players huge flops or unmitigated successes 80 at bats into someone's tenure.

AHHHHH Hogwash!!!!

Who needs 80 at bats. Did you see Chris Davis last week? He's back baby!!!!

Or did you see him tonight? He's done!

:)

It must be frustrating to be one of the more valuable players in your early 20s in recent memory but still be ridiculed at overrated because you didn't become Babe Ruth with speed and defense. Maybe he and Matt Wieters can form a support group for perfectly good players who didn't become messianic.

Only the brain dead acquire players who will one day slump, or have to make adjustments. Good teams just get their hands on players who are consistently awesome. Every single day. Every pitch.

Other teams always score runners on base with less than two outs. True story.

So did nick markakis, who replaced him in ATL.

Markakis has an OBP of over .400 so far this year. Would love to have him back with the O's. Maybe the Braves would take Travis Snider and Alejandro de Aza for him.

He has been in the league for five years and his numbers are the plate are definitely mediocre. But yes, his defense is above average. Still don't think the O's need him, especially not for $7.8 mill. What a ripoff.

Not anymore. Snider has a 53 point advantage in OPS right now (only a 25 point lower OBP)
