For example, Forbes says that 122 players in 2013 had TUE's, and 119 of those were for ADHD medications (roughly 14% of MLB players).

I would take them on a case-by-case basis, personally. In Davis's case, he demonstrated specifically that he isn't a MLB-player without his TUE (sub .200 BA, really?).

Uninformed opinion alert: Chris Davis struggled in TEX when he had a TUE and hit 53 HR when he didn't. So Adderall had nothing to do with his performance.

There was a Jeff Passan tweet that said sourced "Sources," that was the seminal idea for all the following articles which posited that he didn't have an exemption in 2013.

Here, however, is a source that somewhat reasonably assumed that when Davis said he didn't have an exemption "this year" (2014), he meant that he did have one last year. These are some of the only words from Davis himself.

In addition and more importantly, Mark Townsend noted that Davis failed two tests in two years, and while he accepts (from Passan) that he didn't have a TUE in 2013, that he was still using Adderall anyway, leading to his 2014 sususpension.

Matusz was on 105.7 the other day ...Thursday I believe and he said he's here for one more year...He referred to the super two thing and a 4th year of arb. I'm certain he knows his status.

The Orioles would have to offer him arbitration. Will they do it when he's looking at 3.5-4M? I wouldn't.

Even with his awful 2014 season he was close to a two win player. So to say he isn't a major league player is not true.

This is a very specious argument. One source does not quote Davis as saying he had a TUE in 2013, it says he didn't, provides no evidence for this, but quotes Davis as saying he had one "in the past". The other source can't be accessed. But all of this is baloney because we know Davis had a TUE in TEX and he didn't put up very impressive numbers. People who know something about the condition know it has more to do with helping a person focus under stress. Davis wasn't stressed on 2013 and by all credible accounts wasn't using Adderall. He was stressed in 2014 for a variety of reasons and did use it.

Manny has full matured into an absolutely great player this year. I have loved watching that transformation and love that he is an Oriole.

Having said that, he still isn't Mike Trout.

If you are one of those that fallaciously thinks that hitting third would make a difference, keep in mind that Trout has logged many more games hitting first and second then he has third.

Being behind Trout isn't a mark of shame, it is just a reality, a reality that ever other player in the game has to deal with.
