Any sense of velocity?

Whether we like it or not, Gallardo is probably our #4 starter now.

With Jimenez gone from the rotation (and with Wright likely to join him), we're really going to be winging it now. We'll be hoping that Gallardo can pitch at at least a serviceable level, hoping that Wilson pitches well more often than he does not in his turns in the rotation, and hoping that that Despaigne can do a reasonably good job as the #5 starter until Worley gets back, or until Duquette acquires another starting pitcher via a trade.

That's REALLY winging it.

Joe Saunders and Justin Hammel 2012, Brad Bergesen 2009, Chris Waters 2008, Jeremy Guthrie 2007, Bruce Chen 2004/2005, Rodrigo Lopez 2002/2004, Travis Driskill 2002, Josh Towers and Willis Roberts 2001, Jose Mercedes 2000--Need to pull a few like those out of the hat to slot in behind Gallardo. Maybe this year it's Despaigne and Worley, who knows.

He was 92 today.

Hit touched 92 today a couple times. He sat 87-91 which is a good 2 MPH improvement over where he was.

More baserunners than you like, but the stuff was improved to where I think he can get by on it if his location is decent. Didn't throw the big curve too often other than to Justin Smoak, but it looked really good when he did.

I am definitely encouraged.

How many pitches? He didn't sit there. On a positive note, it's nice to see he can occasionally can dial it up. But he needs to cut down on the amount of baserunners.

He's going to walk guys, it's a by product of him pitching around guys and trying to get them to chase. He doesn't have the stuff to challenge the better hitters.

His BB/9 with Texas (3.3) is slightly below what he's done so far in much less fewer innings, but I was commenting on today. Four in 5IP is too many.
