I think he's basically talking the 1950's and 60's look. Short hair, clean shaven for the most part.

Which is but a small fraction of even baseball history.

One of the lessons of the 1970s is that if you tell folks they have to look like a Marine for too long they'll end up looking like Ross Grimsley.

Me ? 48 Military veteran

I've worked on a military base for over 25 years and I know a lot of guys who got out of the Navy and immediately grew their hair down past their shoulders and kept it there.  They didn't really like people telling them how they should look.  It's America after all.

I had a goatee from 25 to 46. But it was always well trimmed. My hair was past the collar back in the late 80s.

Im not saying you have to agree it's me. I was just giving my opinion. The right to have an opinion is American also.

Alas, it was bound to happen! I was hoping for a no-hit rookie season!

On the stadium gun, I only saw one fastball under 98 mph (it was 97). Otherwise, sitting 98/99.    Threw several change-ups at 90, but only one for a strike that I remember.*    He threw about 75-80% fastballs.

* One of his changeups was hit for the double.

We haven’t seen the good splitter (changeup) yet. But it was a little bit better than his first appearance, threw a couple decent ones.

Here’s what it looks like when it’s not quite as firm.
