I don't get it.  He's gone after this year.  Why cater to him?  Tell him to play 3rd, because Beckham is your SS of the future.

Manny will be worse at SS than at 3B.  Beckham will be worse at 3B than SS.  I am not sure this switch will make it through spring training.

I think it is a combination of two things.

1. Rewarding Manny for being a good soldier and playing third all this time.
2. Buck trusting Manny to run the defense more than Beckham.

I am totally disgusted with Manny and the FO. Player telling management where he will play. He won't be in Baltimore in 2019. Whats Buck and DD afraid of? That Manny will pout? This organization has become a laughing stock. Personally I'll be glad when Manny is traded. IMO
