.5 WAR, hit .284 AVG, .342 OBP, .714 OPS, and 11 SB last year. Certainly not the best player in the world, but is it really surprising to anyone else that he has to compete for a job in Spring Training?

And likewise, Adam Jones was arguably a less valuable player last year. What happens with him?

Just because he signed a minor league deal doesn't mean he has to compete for a job.

More than 8 WAR is overvaluing him and I prefer bRef. But still, I think you’re right, Marwin is a nice piece to have. I’d prefer Iglesias as starting SS.

The bulk of that was his outstanding 2017 season.  I wouldn't expect that going forward.  I'd expect more of his 2016 and 2018 production going forward.  I'm big on roster flexibility.

If I had a gaping hole at SS, and that's what I needed to solve, then yeah, give me Iglesias.

But because he's not viewed as an everyday center fielder anymore by some evaluators, he seems to have fallen into the mud bog of corner outfielder/DH types in free agency. Look, when Avisail Garcia signed a one-year, $2.5 million deal with the Rays, at age 27, that was a really, really bad indication for those left on the corner outfield market. And Jones, a respected veteran and five-time All-Star, could be among those who feel the ripple of the industry change.

A national media reporter laying out Adam's situation.  If he falls to 1/3m and will waive his 10/5 rights the O's should sign him.  He is better than Stewart, Rickard or Yaz in right field. And he can be traded at the deadline if he has a good season.  This would delay Hays' service clock which would be a good thing for a team that will likely be under .500 in 2019.

I'd rather have Cameron Maybin.  Cheaper, betterD, and some SBs. Probably get him on a milb deal at this point too.

He might have a better arm, but I assure you that he can't cover the ground that Rickard can.  Not sure about Yaz or Stewart but Jones' range isn't great at all.

Look at it through this lens:  If Jones played his entire career for the Mets and was a FA this year, would we even be considering him?  Most likely not.

Not sure he’d get much of a return on a deadline trade.

Yeah, well.  It's one of the more interesting things about the team this year.  Which isn't saying much, but seeing who seizes the RF spot in ST is something I am watching out for.  And then, of course, if they can hold onto it.
