Unimpressive, yet gutsy.

I think it’s very impressive to watch a guy that’s had to completely learn to pitch and not just throw. Hats off to Bundy. He got lots of GB using his two seamer.

I wonder if analytics says that he should ditch the cutter and the two seamer for just a 4 seamer?  Would Bundy be open to that?

If Bundy was teed off his last start about Severino's passed ball allowing two runs to score, I wonder how he felt about Tanner Scott, Armstrong, and especially Castro blowing yesterday's game. With less sloppy defense and a slightly better bullpen to back him, Bundy could be sharing the team lead for wins (10) with Means.

Bundy will get 1 or 2 more starts depending on how things shake out. I'd like to see him finish strong. He has an outside shot of getting his ERA+ to 100 if my back-of-the-napkin math holds up. He'd need 7 shutout innings or 10+ innings at 1.59. He's done neither of those things this year from what I can tell but he'll face the Jays one more time and he pitched moderately well in his one start vs. Boston this year. Stranger things have happened.

Wishful thinking.

Bundy has been a bit star-crossed this year.    He hasn’t had a great season, but he certainly hasn’t been terrible.    The bullpen blew 4 games where he left in line for the win; he only went 3-4 in his 9 quality starts; and in my view he got more than his share of the team’s bad defense.    That said, all these things are a byproduct of playing on a bad team, and he certainly self-inflicted some wounds along the way.   I’m at least happy that he’s pitched decently down the stretch, unlike last year when he really lost it after the all star break.   He also got the homers a little under control.    To me, there’s still hope for him to improve a bit.

According to Roch:

The only certainties in the rotation, from what we’re told, are that Dylan Bundy gets one more start and John Means and Asher Wojciechowsi each receive two.

I’m kind of disappointed that Bundy will only go once in the final 10 games, but I guess Hyde wants to test a few less established arms   .
