I watched the replay of yesterday's game.  Stewart made a few good catches.  Nice to see.

I saw the replay of his diving catch, and I was wondering if he had to dive for it because he got a late jump? Did you see whether that was the case?

He backed up on that ball ,then came charging in. He gets bad reads or is slow to react on the plays I saw yesterday. Only seen him a few times in person ,so I will reserve total judgement yet

All right, thank you, so in that case, it wasn’t really a “good play” it was a recovery from a bad reaction.

Someone said that the greatest outfielders make it look easy because they react so quickly that They always seem to just be where the ball is.

Takes time to adjust to the 3rd deck as well.  Overall I think Stewart will be fine as a LF.  He may have the occasional play that looks bad as we've seen, but he can move just fine and he'll be adequate out there.

If he's in LF, where does Mountcastle play?

Whichever works best.  Plenty of possible moving parts.

Trade ( I don’t expect much) or bench. Nunez doesn’t have much to offer when the rebuild turns into a competitive team.

We have to play to our ballpark and division. We can “manufacture” defense with positioning. We can’t manufacture what Nunez and Mancini are doing now, and what we think Mountcastle will do. Maybe 100 HR between the three. 

Grow the bats, but index cards for defense.

And with Bannon stepping up as a possibility at 2nd or 3rd, there's yet another moving part for next season.  

Is it just a small sample size, or does Stewart have the best feel for the strike zone and approach to at bats on the team?  My feeling is that he's a very solid major league hitter and not the disaster in the OF that he's getting labelled.

Stewart has very good strike zone judgment.    We’ll see about the rest of his game.

They don't really seem to see Mountcastle as a LF.  Of course they've been playing Wilkerson in CF so who knows.

To me Hays is the big wild card, at least in terms of position players and the outfield alignment.  He had a nice first 2 years but he's been injured and mostly unproductive since.  I think he has a lot that he needs to show.  If he can be an everyday CF and play the position adequately and hit that would go a long way in helping the rebuild.
