This pick is the result of all of last years losing.  While there is way more to this draft we won't know for years how this really turns out.  So for that reason I'd imagine a LOT of pages of praise and negativity.

Shouldn't the fact we have Mountcastle slated to play first the next 6-10 years count for something. He is our top prospect. I'd love to lock down catcher for a while.

I'd much rather have Vaughn.  Bledey is CO only, a 40 runner and has too much swing and miss in his game.

Here’s one way to look at Rutschman vs. Vaughn: per BB-ref, catcher gets a WAR adjustment of about +0.9, 1B gets a WAR adjustment of about -0.9.    So, to prefer the 1B, he would need to produce 1.8+ oWAR more than the catcher, assuming they are both average defensively at their position.    But since Rutschman is projected to be well above average defensively, while Vaughn is projected to be average or below defensively, the offensive gap might need to be more like 3.0 oWAR.
