AAA bullpen depth and a camp catcher who may hang on as a backup in AA or AAA.

With all these fungible catchers the Orioles have, it is silly that Wynns still holds a spot on the 40-man roster.

It's the whole "Who would you pick up if we DFA Wynns?"  Right now Alberto, Nunez, Severino, Ruiz, and Smith Jr. are all slated to start on OD.  5/9ths of our lineup from waiver claims.

They lost Pat Valaika on the last waiver churn. I think he has more upside than Wynns.

At this point, only 5-10 players on that list will get a guaranteed mlb deal.

That’s good. The title thread was about MiLB deals, so getting Salazar to sign a MiLB - even a generous one, with player opt-outs if he is not on the MLB roster by certain deadlines - seems like the kind of flyer this team can afford.  That is, if the guarantee is low.

Might he be worth the gamble? What would his agent demand, realistically?

True.  We wouldn't be hearing about a possible Beckham signing if Valaika was still here.

There's no such thing as a bad milb deal.  The O's aren't the best place for a player to sign that is looking to rebuild their value.  Small ballpark, tough division, spotty defense, 100 loss team.  The first two factors matter the most.

I think Aaron Sanchez is the guy we should target.  He's pitched in the AL East, and the Astros already made their adjustments to him.

On the other side of that coin, if you're any good you're guaranteed playing time.

weams actually had a thread on the Taylor Davis signing back on Jan. 15.    Not sure why it took Roch another 8 days to report it.   Maybe the deal wasn't official until today.

Davis had come to Baltimore and his people reported it then. The O's announced it today.

Sanchez needs to rebuild his value, too. His past couple of seasons have been rough. At least Salazar has the excuse that he needed to recover from surgery.
I would be happy to sign Sanchez and Salazar to MiLB contracts, if they want to come here.

Add Taijuan Walker to the list of reclamation project candidates as well.

Though I get the feeling that these guys would only come here on a ML deal.
