Edgar Martinez played 138 games at DH in 1995 and put up a 7.0 WAR season.  He had a 185 OPS+.  Frank Thomas had a year over seven in '97 but played less than 50 games at DH.

I'm not sure he could, even if he plays at that level.  I think teams would be so scared that it's a hot streak and that he could regress to the level of the previous few seasons.  The stank on those seasons is so bad, it's easy to believe that any good performance this year couldn't be seen as anything else other than a fluke.

Under my scenario it would involve the Orioles still eating a large portion of the remaining contract. I agree with you any trade involving Davis is pretty much impossible.
