So do we think Elias already has a handshake deal for  a prospect he likes that's not on the 60?  He's probably familiar with their system after trading them Villar.  The value of where Villar was compared to what Bleier is now is probably pretty similar, so he might be getting a guy he already tried to get before.

Pretty disappointing for me....Velazquez was a veteran guy who had a rough season last year. It seems to me that a good rebound this year might of produced a worthwhile prospect.

In regards to Bleier, he has two more season of control and looked good so far this season. I think his value would’ve been way more later in the season as the deadline neared. 
 

I get that it’s possible we still get some value out of these guys. But I’m disappointed that all Elias seems to be able to get in an announced trade is extremely young international prospects or the PTNL. 

I completely disagree. I want someone off the 60 man rosters of every club we deal with. Any trade engineered right now is a brilliant one in my view.

I would assume there’s a specific prospect (or an option of one on a list of prospects) that’s been agreed upon.

Bleier has two more years of controll...that is has some value.

Brach was a free agent ....Bleier has 2 years of control left. ... mid 30s doesn’t really matter for a middle reliever.

The only reason its PTNBL is because only guys on the 60 man can be traded and the Marlins are in no position to trade MLB quality players and Bleier isn't worth a top prospect regardless of his years of control. 

No sense in ranting until we know what we got back.  I still wouldn't set my expectations too high, Bleier is a middle reliever that throws upper 80s and had a bad year last year.

We will get a  24 year old AA relief pitcher with an ERA north of 4.5 or maybe you are onto something with international $$.  I can't believe how people are valuing Bleir.  The Marlins and Orioles maybe the only two teams he's capable of making.

Might the PTBNL be one of the Miami covid-pos players (perhaps a comparable reliever, which would allow the Marlins to field a team)? Is it prohibited to trade 'injured' players in MLB? Do I have it confused with another sport?

Another consideration: The Marlins don't have enough players on the 40-man to field a team. They'll have to select the contracts of guys that are in their 60-man pool that are not on their 40-man roster. When their COVID players come back, they're going to have DFA a bunch of players to get back to 40 (i think COVID doesn't count against the 40).

Maybe this is a deal for a minor leaguer on their 60-man. Definitely not a star, but maybe someone decent that the Marlins were afraid of losing in a week or so. From the Marlins' perspective, why not get someone for a guy like that?

Yes, but they'll be over 40 when their major leaguers come back. There is a good chance they'll have to DFA five to 10 players when that happens. They would have to hope they clear waivers.
