Hyun Jin Ryu starts tonight, coming off of two very good, if not deep, starts against Atlanta and Miami.

With Bichette out, Teoscar Hernandez has been their best hitter this year.  Having a breakout year at 27.

I'm pretty sure that guy killed us last year.  Which isn't saying much because everyone killed us last year, but you know what I mean.

If you assume that the Os probably have to finish 3rd to make the playoffs (not 100% sure thing but a reasonable assumption), and you assume the Red Sox are already dead in the water, then finishing ahead of Toronto is the single biggest goal the Orioles need to accomplish.

Right now we are 3.5 games ahead of the Blue Jays.  Three days from now we will be somewhere between half a game ahead of them to 6.5 games ahead of them with 37 games left.  That is a huge swing.  

Our ten games with Toronto (over 1/4 of our remaining schedule), are huge.  That last weekend of the season in Buffalo could be as big as 1989.

It all starts tonight!

I'm awaiting the O's-Jays game on the 28th at Buffalo.  This will be the first time the Orioles play at Buffalo in 67 years.  First time in a major league guise that a Baltimore team played there in 105 years.

GAME ONE

 

Hyun-Jin Ryu )has been uncharacteristically wild so far this season, giving out 10 Free Passes (9 Walks and 1 Hit Batsman) in only 20 Innings Pitched.

In his previous 2 seasons combined, Ryu's walk rate over 265 Innings Pitched was 1.325, including a league-leading 1.183 for the Dodgers last season.

 

That said, he is certainly capable of pitching 8 innings without walking any batters.

Game 1 Lineup.

Pretty thin after the first four hitters. According to Roch the Orioles are considering putting Iglesias on the IL. Is Bryan Holaday really better than Sisco or Smith vs. a lefty?

Sisco has had one career start against a left handed pitcher.  He has not had a proper chance to fail against them.
