The RH swing isn’t bad either. 1.200+ OPS vs LHP. .790 vs RHP. He looks about as ready as ready as one can be. 

That’s a pretty big separation. Maybe he’s a candidate to drop switch hitting too. Or you give him his days off against tough LHP.

Mmmmmm, I'm pretty sure this completely wrong. Sisco had 1800ish PAs in the MiLs before his ML debut- and many hundred after it as well- and a full five years in the MiLs. Rutschman has 440

Witt, Jr. is 0-1 with a strikeout and Abrams is 0-2 with two strikeouts tonight. Clearly the Orioles made the right choice.

1.   I wouldn’t make too much of one year’s worth of R/L spilts.  Many players fluctuate from year to year on this.   

2.  .790 isn’t exactly bad.   

I wouldn’t dream of telling Rutschman to drop switch hitting at this point.  As to giving him his days off against LHP, that can be decided in the future.

I wouldn’t have dreamed of telling Mullins that either. Just something to keep in mind as his career develops.

There’s a pretty big difference.  Mullins had a .439 OPS as a RHB in the majors, and his MiL numbers also were bad as RHB.   Rutschman’s numbers from the RH side are above average, just not as stellar as his LH numbers so far.

Rutschman kicks left footed and writes right handed, so I would be inclined to think that he is more ambidextrous than the average switch hitter.  FWIW

Why would you give Rutschman days off against LHP if he’s hitting better from the right side? Wouldn’t it be the other way around?

Got curious how Rutschman’s move from Bowie to Norfolk impacted the fate of those two teams.

Bowie: 49-33 (.598) with Rutschman; 24-14 (.632) without him.   

Norfolk: 32-50 (.390) without Rutschman; 20-28 (.416) with him.   

Obviously there were many other players moving around other than just Rutschman.   But I guess I’d say neither team was really heavily impacted by the move.    Bowie not only survived, it thrived.    Norfolk got a minor bump but nothing earth shattering.   

All this is to say that I’m not expecting Rutschman’s arrival in Baltimore to have a huge and immediate impact on the W-L record.   I still look forward to watching him play, though.

HIs impact will depend on who else the O's bring in.   If they decide to not waste the Adley and Grayson years.

I think this is only the Boiwie at bats and does not include what he did at Norfolk.  Correct me if I am wrong.

Overall he was 1.060 vs. LHP, .825 vs. RHP.   At Norfolk, .870 vs. LHP, .915 vs. RHP.   He’s going to hit fine from both sides of the plate.

      I like Mounty, and do think there’s a decent chance this will be his best season so far.  But I don’t take a lot of comfort from sewing together two partial seasons at points that began and ended with hot streaks, and ignoring his history of streakiness.  He will have to prove that he can minimize the length and severity of his cold streaks, and for me he can only prove it over the full 162 game season.  He’s already had a stretch of 29 games at .657 this year but has been hot enough before and after to make up for it.  Hopefully he’ll continue that trend, but we’ll see.

      I love Burnes but wouldn't want to pay what it takes. We still have Ortiz/Hall level prospects we can trade for the next Burnes. Remember we get a comp pick when he walks.

      He's not going to be realistically in range for us.  It's going to take an overpay to keep him here, and we should have other options heading into the off season.  Hard pass for me.

      Roch just posted the starters for the Jays series: Rodriguez, Burnes, TBA, & TBA. 3rd game Wednesday would be normal rest for Povich, so I think there's a chance they'll be calling him up to start that game.

      I think you are on to something here, over the last calendar year Mounty has put up a slash line of .302/.363/.485 in 438 PAs...that's a long of stretch of strong offensive performance.  I'm glad he's on our team and hope he can keep it going.

      I’m open to the idea IF the Orioles & Jorge Lopez reached an agreement, then let him take Vieira’s spot  1) Lopez’s son hospitalization caused him lots of stress  2) change of scenery from Mets losing culture to Orioles winning one could help him  3) Lopez had two stints with Orioles in which he pitched well and had no issues with coaches, teammates & fans  what do you guys think ?
