Exactly--waiting for a pitch that you can drive is fine until there are two strikes.  Then you need to change your approach--either look for a pitch that you can take the other way, or keep fouling off good pitches until the pitcher makes a mistake (like Sanchez did against Akin today, for example).

Neustrom on one corner.   Stowers in the other.     I guess Zach Jarrett mans CF and Yusniel Diaz who still hasn't gotten untracked either goes to DH or some fate even worse than that.   Who goes to make room for Stowers?

Also, does this cause a chain reaction at Bowie and Aberdeen?   Someone like Turchin back up to Bowie and Cowser up to Aberdeen?

Bowie may be covered in the outfield between Welk (who has been playing some LF), Watson, Rizer, and Fontana. Oh and Vavra who has been playing 2nd since his return but can play OF as well.

At present, Delmarva has too many prospect bats to get them all in the lineup.

Huge news. Congrats to Stowers. Now can people on the board @Sports Guystop including him as a 2nd/3rd piece in trade ideas. The dude is a beast. Get on board.

I think the jury is out until he does it in the majors.  Waiting to see if he has holes that ML pitchers will exploit.  He does have contact issues but he's produced so far. The power is real and intriguing.

Gotta give the O's credit for the way they've moved Stowers this year.  Even though it's late in the season, I think it's very important for a prospect like him (at his age and with his propensity to strike out a lot) to get some AAA exposure this season.  It's good for him, and it helps the O's with their planning for next year.

      Santander has an OPS+ of 128 and a wRC+ of 125. In other words, at or near his career peak, and better than Cal or Brooks' career marks. A 128 OPS+ would be Nick Markakis' second-best offensive season.

      Just as importantly they used baseballs where they'd replaced the cushioned cork center with Flubber. There's almost no way that sometime in early 1993 the entire league suddenly decided to use industrial quantities of 'roids AND started to work out like madmen so they'd take effect. In 1992 the majors scored just over four runs a game, and by mid-1993 it was about five. Not to rehash that entire argument for the 10,000th time...

      I tend to doubt Pitt trades Keller but I think Bednar could be on the board. He hasn’t even the lights out guy so far that he has been in the past. Mountcastle and other make them a better offense and perhaps team right now.

      Because I believe how it works is they project FIP and then adjust based on team defense and park factors to project ERA. Since we’re talking about a trade, the context-specific elements of defense and park factors are less relevant. The projections have been shown to be more highly correlated with future performance than ERA or ERA estimators such as FIP.

      Pittsburgh signed Keller thru 2028.  As much as I would like to trade for him, I think they plan to build their rotation around Keller and Skenes.  Keller is a #2/3 with ace upside.  If their GM would think to move him, they would no doubt want a package starting w/ Mayo/Basallo or Holliday, fair or unfair.
