Well, it won't be a pitcher coming up, they are already down to a 3 man bench.

Guess the most likely is Franco coming off the IL.

I enjoyed watching Kelvin in the field.   Great throwing arm at 3rd.

Franco was playing in games at the Florida complex this week, so this is the most likely corresponding roster move.

Not surprisingly, Pat Valaika's spot remains safe and sound. 

Thank goodness we have his defense at second over Jones, though.

This is a mildly disappointing move, Franco continues the third-base tradition that was passed on from Wilson Betemit and Mark Reynolds and Renato Nunez and-for about 6 innings-Pedro Alvarez.

all of those guys could hit a little, though.

Franco is half the Keystone Cops all by himself.

I'd rather see the Orioles proceed with caution on Franco for now. Franco is a below average hitter (75 OPS+) and not a very good defensive 3B. Gutierrez at least offers solid defense even if his bat is week.

Franco was signed to a ML deal, he was always going to come back in favor of a guy like Gutierrez.

Yep. As frustrating as it is for me as a fan, they're not going to deviate from whatever they plan is. Best we can do is enjoy some of the success stories and hope for better next season.

Franco had a .778 OPS last year.   So he CAN hit a bit.   Obviously he hasn't this year so far.

Saying "neither can hit" is kind of stretching things.   This year, Franco's OPS is 200 points higher than Gutierrez's, even though it's still bad.  

Franco is 1 year removed from a 109 OPS+ and his career OPS is .727.  Gutierrez's career OPS is .570 in 240 ML ABs.   He has put up mid-700 OPS in his minor league career.

I don't understand why everyone is so upset about this. We obviously need to get Franco back on the field ASAP to showcase him for a trade.

Despite switch hitting, appears handedness of opposing SP has correlated with Leyba Sit/Start last 6 games.
