Yes, but sometimes that’s progress, especially on a team as bad as this one.

I, for one, will not miss Franco and his ridiculous attempts at bare handing balls that should be gloved. Horrible. You could hear Jim Palmer’s frustration every time he tried it. Good riddance.

Yeah, it's been clear that Palmer is not a fan of Franco (or Severino).

Severino is guaranteed to be non-tendered this off season. But, we'll have to watch him play the next 6 weeks.

I don't think that's a guarantee.  What's he projected to get in arbitration.  Depends on that amount and how much to replace him with a ML caliber catcher.  They need a catcher until Adley come up and then someone to share time with him.

He's projected to get more than the minimum.

Sure, you could try to replace him with a ML caliber catcher.  Or you could find a non-ML caliber catcher who is as good as he is but cheaper.

The 2022 O's won't need a real catcher for a month or so they are gaming Adley's service clock.

They can pick up a warm body or two off the waiver wire.

Yeah I thought about that, but nobody thought Schoop could be what Dickerson squeezed out of him on defense. Also, Davis(sorry for the bad word) made huge strides defensively. Flaherty went from positionless to a guy that could play capably across the IF. Heck, Pearce played 2B a few times.

Nobody could fix Jimmy Parades, but he had one heckuva a hot streak. All Star numbers the first half of a season.

Jones, Urias, and Mateo, are all big time athletes that with coaching and shifting should be able to hold down the IF until Westburg and Gunnar arrive.

Do the Orioles even have an IF coach? Nobody's listed that way. One of the base coaches?

If I had to guess, he’s probably in line for $2-3 mm in arbitration.

Need a catcher? There are several in the miners who are cheap and available and know how to block a pitch.

I don't disagree and that might be what we see them do.   As bad as Severino has been on offense, it's doubtful any of the catchers you mentioned would be anywhere near as good in that department.

Hopefully Severino is saving the money from his major league salary this season, because he'll be lucky to earn ML-level pay for an extended period ever again.

I won't miss Franco at all.  He never really seemed like he wanted to be here anyways, at least based on my impressions of his demeanor, effort, and failure to make adjustments offensively or defensively.

I’d love for them to offer JJ Hardy the job. Last I heard he was living on a ranch in Wyoming??? with a much younger wife. I don’t think then asst coach salary would make him leave that.

Toss in a ping pong table and that sounds pretty close to heaven on earth.
