Astros give Dusty Baker an extension through next year.

 

Tigers trade infield prospect NIck Quintana to the Reds for veteran C Tucker Barnhart, who has a $7.5mm team option which of course Detroit will exercise.   I guess they want a veteran catcher to handle their bevy of young pitchers.

Qualifying offer decisions will become known Sunday night after 5pm.   The tiny chance of weird incentives making Syndergaard a longshot fit could vanish in terms of Elias reciprocating if he gets the poison pill, but I feel like even down at ~$18M that is a little bit rich for his circumstance.   I guess Sandy Alderson will still drive the Mets decision there, and on Conforto.
