Left field at OPACY going through a big change

I think things like quality of team and hosting metropolitan area will be more important to players.

I think the corners are going to lead to a lot of weird caroms and possibly seeing a few inside the park home runs from them.  And seriously force teams to put good OF'ers in left instead of putting horrible fielders out there (DJ Stewart).  I like it.  The game has gone away from speed and defense, hopefully this will reward those that value it.

Aesthetically, I’m fine with how it looks.  Now I want to see how it plays.  I’m really looking forward to seeing what happens the first few times a fly ball heads for that corner near the bullpen.

I think the 90 degree angle is a stupid and lazy design, and I  would expect it to lead to a serious injury at some point

If an outfielder is tracking a flyball along the left field wall towards center, and then runs into the cutout. He will already be on the warning track so there is no warning track for that situation.

Most outfielders will Trumbo  any ball near the cutout. Just turn around wait for it to hit the ground and then go pick it up. Too many ways to run into the wall and get seriously injured.

PNC Park has pretty much the same layout in that part of the field and has had no serious injuries that I am aware of. Flyballs are not tracked along outfield walls, and it is the low walls that players don't see that are more likely to cause injury.

I like it for the most part. The slap hitters of the league are going to have a tougher time getting their first mlb homerun at Camden Yards. IMO there were way too many cheap lazy fly ball  homers to left field at OPACY.

Now all they have to do is extend the OF wall to the batters eye in center.

I tend to agree with this in general.  There are exceptions in the FA class the O's have frequently visited though.  The injury or career recovery types who need some lipstick on the underlying junk.  But in general, money talks and...  It's just another item in the list of excuses why FA pitchers don't sign here.  Maybe the wall changes will disturb the pixie dust buried there from the groundbreaking and bring back the magic!

It is interesting to see a guy like Hays who hit 22 HR on the season.  In OPACY he would have hit 24.  In COL, he would have hit 11.  Feels like he had some wall scrapers that will be doubles or outs this year.

But I don't mind the LF wall though (I guess the sentiment has changed a bit since I shared that).  It doesn't change much from an aesthetic perspective for me.  Just hoping our guys learn it better than their guys do, and not the hard way.
