Nice write up on Roberto Mercado, Aberdeen’s new manager

“One thing I got from just talking to everybody was it’s a very family-type atmosphere,” Mercado said. “It was something that I believe in, that every organization should have, is making people feel comfortable. They asked me some tough questions here and there, but I just had a feeling that this is an organization I’d love to work for.”

How cool is it to read something like this.

Anyway, nice article, thanks for pointing it out.

I find all of this quite fascinating from a standpoint of following the minor leagues for so long. The Orioles are clearly trying something new by bringing in so many coaches and managers who never played or coached professionally.

It's really interesting to see how all of this works out. Mercado seems like a really hard working guy who loves baseball and has obviously impressed a lot of people who have met him. I'm very interested in meeting him and all these new young coaches this year. Hopefully with COVID lightening up it will be easier to get down to the affiliates this year and talk with them.

Probably fresh people who aren't set in their ways, that can be crafted to execute the development plan from the top.  No egos, no resistance.
