Brain freeze.  He’s not an instinctive fielder.   Bad reflexes.   Shouldn’t be at 3B.

So here's what I was thinking, tho could be way off.  He didn't see Mancini tag first for the first out, and assumed that Mancini had started what was going to be a 3-6-3 or 3-6-1 double play.  He sure seemed to be ready to fire back and was quite surprised when Mancini wasn't where he should be to receive that throw for what he thought would be the second out.

Now, why he didn't see Mancini actually hit first base with his foot, I don't know.  But that's what I thought was happening.  That Nevin really didn't see Mancini get the first out.
