Nothing personal, but if Ohtani gets traded it will be to either the NYY, NYM, or LAD. They can afford to trade away their whole farm system.  We can’t.

Very true, I'll also add this-having worked for a Japanese company and lived there he will prefer for his family (schooling, wife) to be near a large amount of expats and that only exists on the West Coast or NY.  Endorsement exposure is secondary and I'm not sure how that works but the Yankees and Mariners owned the Japanese market-that may have changed.

Also Ohtani said he wants to set the record for AAV.  So we definitely know it is not happening, since there's no actual evidence the O's have offered any top free agents real contracts.  Don't point to the Correa rumors, what are some actual contracts the O's offered?

How would we ever know what offers the FO actually made? For all we know they might have made an offer to the top 20 FAs on the market this year… except that offer in every single case was a 1/10 deal + incentives, printed on a form letter.
“Dear __TREAa TURNER__, we here at the Orioles are excited to present you with the following once-in-a-lifetime opportunity…”

I want the Orioles to build around Westburg. He's a middle of the order bat (5th-7th hitter) who can play 2B and SS, and so many of his minor league teammates and coaches have raved about his work ethic and leadership skills. So I'm not a fan of the title of this thread.

We should be hoping the O's trade Mateo and Urias at the deadline, and evaluate their potential trade value instead.

I hear you, but the reasons you stated to keep him are the reasons he has value.  If the Orioles are not going to draft TOR pitchers, or commit to long term high dollar contracts on Free Agent pitching, they will have to trade for it.  Mateo and Urias will not attract the pitching the Orioles need.  If they are going to trade something it should be from a position of depth, middle infielders.  Our prospects should not be viewed as Orioles but as assets.  Some will become Orioles and some will be traded for players who will become Orioles.  So if you decide an asset is going to be traded, you put in the best possible situation to shine.  I think he would be most attractive as a top rated prospect thriving in Triple A and playing three positions.  If you bring him up and label him as a 2nd basemen and he struggles in the adjustment period some of that attractiveness is gone and so is some of that value.

Ohtani in Baltimore lol you guys are funny.

Multiple posts in this thread relate to how to improve the roster for a playoff push. None (I think) consider the scenario where the O's are clear sellers at the deadline, and someone like Urias or Mateo get traded away. That's one way to open a spot for Westburg.

Much more likely that Frazier is traded because he is on a one year contract.
