So you'll root root root for the away team, if they don't win it's a shame!

I get that literally everything you say has to be contradictory lest we forget how hipster cool and different you are from the rest of us, mouth breathers. It's 2023 and we're an inclusive community, so it's all good.

How am I rooting for the away team?

I enjoy watching exciting players play baseball.

Happy to see him up, but this revolving door infield of guys alternating between SS, 3B and 2B has been hard to predict who is playing where on any given night. I wonder if it affects the players or messes with their heads, not knowing what infield position they'll play. I admire their flexibility and it's a good problem to have, I supposed, those kinds of options.

I can't imagine that it is helpful. I'm not sure why the Orioles are having such a hard time moving off of middling players like Mateo and Frazier for guys who seem to have more of an upside and future?

I enjoy when people call professional athletes by their first names.

It works best with young players. "Gunnar" "Elly" etc...

I think it works better when it is an uncommon name.

I'm not calling Santander Anthony, but I'll refer to Mr Betts as Mookie.

You just knew it was going to be some crazy kind of lineup. I hope that Westburg’s arrival doesn’t mean that we are now going to be platooning Gunnar.

Please tell me you don't really think this would even be a consideration......

Gunnar is our best hitter, needs to play every day. Need to get rid of either Mateo or Frazier, like yesterday

I fixed that for you......

Gunnar is our best hitter, needs to play every day. Need to get rid of either Mateo or Frazier, like IN JULY.

That reminds me of the post-game interview with Kremer the other day. Someone asked Kremer what "Ryan" means to the team, and Kremer's response was "Which Ryan? We have like 8 of them."

A fair perspective. It's weird why it works in some cases but not all.

I've got a buddy who refers to Mountcastle as "Ryan." Hell, I would even prefer he call him "Mounty" than "Ryan." Better than "Ry" I guess.

Too many damn Ryan's on this team to know who he's talking about lol.

I like calling guys by their numbers, ala an old crotchety equipment manager.

At least your buddy is hedging his bets by using Ryan. I hope Ryan plays tonight. I hope Ryan gets a hit tonight. The odds are ever in his favor.

Incredible that Mateo is still getting ABs when Ortiz is right freaking there.

In a vacuum, it's defensible to keep running a plus SS/C/CF out there even if they're a dud at the plate. But we have the fortune of there being another plus SS who is homegrown, under control for longer, and almost certainly a better hitter.

Jorge seems like a good guy, but his time as a starter is a failed experiment, and he shouldn't be getting the benefit of the doubt like this.

    • I see a playoff team with maybe the same expectations the 2023 team had going into the season. Possibly being picked to finish between 2nd and 4th in our division.     SP - Eflin, Grayson, Big Al, Kremer, Povich McDermott in AAA. Bradish and Means back in the 2nd half????  Wells too? RP - Bautista, Cano, Dominguez, Soto, Coloumbe, Webb, Perez, Akin 1B - Mountcastle DH - O’Hearn 2B - Holliday 3B - Westburg SS - Gunnar C - Adley LF - Cowser CF - Mullins RF - Kjerstad Bench - Mateo, Urias, backup C, RH OF or Mayo Basallo up mid season This is us baby.  We are who we are.  The only way to get experience is to actually get experience. Sorry to Brad Fuller maybe our “vet” can be a former player as hitting coach.  Carlos Beltran or Bonds.
    • I would love to sign any hitters who have actually experienced postseason success and wins.....maybe even championships.  Gurriel for KC has been a part of a lot of postseason wins and having veterans on the team like that are valuable.  I saw somewhere the KC guys said they really benefitted from having Gurriel, Pham, Sal Perez, and others who have been there and done that.  Continuing to rely on young players with nothing but zeroes on their postseason resumes isn't helpful.   I heard Francona is going to manage the Reds.  Great move for them.  I would have loved to have him, given he is a Hall of Famer with actual WS championships and a ton of October success.
    • Geordie Greep just dropped The New Sound. So that.
    • Crazy to lose to the same city in all three sports with two to be considered monumental upsets. I believe the Knicks were actually favored against the Bullets, but not sure as it was before I was born.
    • That entire series very much hurt. Benitez was awful. He hung a slider to Grissom (the eventual ALCS MVP) allowing a go-ahead homer in the top of the 8th of game 2. The squeeze play you mentioned that I haven't been convinced wasn't foul in game 3. Game 4 had two of their guys score on the same wild pitch where it looked like David Justice blocked Lenny Webster after scoring the first of those two runs. And then of course, the last hanging slider from Armando to Tony Fernandez that proved to be the game winner in game 6. Just painful all around.
    • More attendance than the playoff games.
    • Just Burnes and Soto for me. That’s all. 🤪
