Oriole fans get ejected from stadium for throwing beer and spitting on Red Sox players in the bullpen

I'm good with permanent ban after one transgression of this sort.

This.

This wasn't a case of a fan being too noisy or rowdy. This was assault and even though glass bottles aren't sold in stadiums now there was the potential to cause injury or harm.

Those fans should never be allowed back at OPACY again if the charges are proven true.

As someone who has spent (often uncomfortable) time in the bleachers of Memorial, Camden Yards, and Dodger Stadiums, I can say that there can be sometimes a fine line between hilarious drunken ribaldry and a-hole behavior. But mostly it’s a-hole behavior.

I’m not sure it’s that fine a line. Just don’t be an a-hole. Maybe drinking $20 beer makes people think they’re entitled to act like a jerk.

I have never gotten kicked out, but I have had a few drinks and taunted the visiting pitcher in the BP at a Giants game. I even got a laugh out of him with one of my comments. Nothing too mean or bad language.
Another time at a minor league game, I was behind the visiting dugout and there was a brawl on the the field. As the instigator was heading back to the dugout, I said something that made him try to climb into the stands. His teammates grabbed him and he tried to get me to go down there. I was bigger than him at the time, but I am certainly not dumb enough to go down on the field and really just thought it was all funny because my comment to him wasn’t that bad.  Something along the lines of “If you put as much effort into hitting the baseball as you do players maybe you wouldn’t be 24 years old playing rookie league.”

I got kicked out of Memorial Stadium once when I was 16.  We drank on the way to the stadium.  Snuck a pint of 151 rum into the stadium.  Got so drunk I couldnt walk and began to make comments about how hot a 14 year old girl was who was sitting in front of me.  The ushers kicked us out.

Never spit or cursed  but alcohol can make idiots of anyone.

No, it makes someone who is already an idiot even more of an idiot...😉

The games I have been to I have seen no security.Day games but last year saw security I think with black shirts .I know there are some cops in the stadium. Should have seen the amount of police near the MARC and Light Rail station yesterday . BCPD,Maryland police and even a few Homeland security officers  K-9 units but don't pet the dogs.

Also have seen no  traffic control at all. That is a city thing with the Orioles.

Idiots will be idiots, no matter what city or team the fans come from. There is zero, and I mean zero reason to throw things or spit on someone because they are member of another team. Good Lord.

It might make sense though to have a security guard/usher/police officer stationed out there to dissuade the idiots.

There is always a strong security presence out there due to the accessible nature of the players in the bullpen.

When Bleier initially said that someone had thrown beer on him I was surprised that there was no mention of the offending fans being identified and ejected. Relieved to hear that they were. Idiots are going to be idiots and I hope that the action of these idiots doesn't result in any changes to that area, because it is a cool spot to watch an inning or two.

    • Yeah like Tony T but Tony has the ability to foul pitches at will.  I want Cowser to be more like @waroriole’s Rob Refsnyder and Holliday to be Steven Kwan.  Is that too much to ask of number one picks?  But I love Cowser and most of everything he brings.
    • I can't say The Wall gives me all warm fuzzies but it doesn't swing at pitches a foot outside the zone or take a meatball right down the middle of the plate. It doesn't fail to move a runner over or lay down a decent sacrifice bunt. I've never seen it fail to get a hit with a runner in scoring position. At some point The Wall will probably be modified some but you build your team to play best in their home ball park. It's called home field advantage. IMO, Westy is the best right handed bat we have right now for this park. We need someone else like Westy that plays outfield. Bregman would be nice but I don't see it because of Westy and I have hopes Holliday becomes the OBP lead off hitter we need. Note - I'm still pissed but it's getting better. I think I'll live for another season.
    • I’d like to see a study showing that team spending is more closely correlated to owner net worth than team revenue.  There are rare instances where a team owner will subsidize spending (e.g., Cohen) but that’s the exception not the rule - and note that Cohen owns 97% of the Mets vs a much lower % for Rubinstein.  Rubinstein has already been explicit that he is not in this to lose money.
    • Cowser’s  swing decisions are determined before the pitch is even thrown. And I’ve been saying this all year, and I even said this at the game. I go it’s too early to pinch it for him because his defense is too good but he is 100% going to strike out and that’s exactly what he did with bases loaded. He decides whether he is going to swing a pitch before even thrown This is why he swings at a pitch thrown pretty close to his face . And To be fair, he  had a pretty good season doing that but obviously can be  easily exploited
    • Cowser's progress was one of the more encouraging elements this season, especially on the defensive side. I was already crediting him with being Some Kind of Good major leaguer a post back. Between his and Adley's standout bad performances on the HBP and 2-0 count, I give Cowser more of a grace.     Sure he had predetermined intent to swing, but I think the follow through was some raw instinct as hand bones fractured. Adley not swinging was the lowlight how incapacitated he was.    I believe he commands the strike zone, but to feel so low you can't pull the trigger in that spot...sheesh.
    • I believe Elias plans to bring in two more SP's, the quality isnt what im sure about. But no question he'll want to replace Burnes. Which is why I didnt comment in this thread yet because Povich might not have a spot open at the beginning of the year.
    • So a “Pollyanna” then like me, @wildcard and others (joking of course) 😇 I’m in your camp but really wonder if Elias/Hyde and Co. can truly“flip the script” as @Just Regular alludes.
