I would much prefer we pay money and be wrong than send non-fungible prospects.

The differences are numerous.

1. Can be younger
2. Can be less expensive
3. Eliminates the possibility of choice from the player
4. Can be a shorter duration commitment

It makes no sense at all to just mention free agents that under performed as a reason to not trade for someone.

Hendricks at 88 pitches, and he has only recently come off the IL.   I would expect he's done.

Don't honestly know much about how good the Cub bullpen is or who the key arms are.

I would sell my soul for a 1984 version of Eddie Murray in this batting order.  We could really use him.  Switch hitting first base with big OBP.   The opposite of Mountcastle.
