Zimmerman optioned, Vallimont selected, Givens to 60 day IL

Givens and Tate will not pitch again and not pitch at all respectively for the Orioles this season -- which is unfortunate. I'm surprised they just havent announced the TJ surgery and get it over with so the rehab can begin.

Zimmermann or Vespi had to go, glad it was Zimmermann after his performance last night. Hopefully Vallimont will stick. There HAS to be some reinforcements in AAA that can't be any worse than some of the non Bautista, Cano, Columbe's we've been throwing out there.

The O's need some relievers that can at least pitch in a blowout loss.  I hope Akin has to prove himself in the minors before he's brought back.  The O's need to do the same with Voth.  The O's bullpen can't have multiple pitchers who can't get anyone out.

This answers the question about Givens.  He will not with the O's until Sept if then.

Valimont will not last a week in my guess.   He is just the guy that was going to start at Norfolk today.

He was put on the IL on June 1st.  Sixty days from then would leave him eligible in August if he's healthy.

iF Givens really has to have TJ surgery then the Orioles will not pick up his option.Have not heard about any mention of this.

The TJ surgery mention was most likely in relation to Tate, not Givens.

I've feared that was a possibility since hearing he had a sore flexor tendon in February and that he first got it in November.   At that point I kind of mentally made the assumption he wasn't going to pitch for us this year, then they got my hopes back up when he started doing rehab assignments.

But now he's apparently seeking a second opinion and we know what that usually means.

Well Elias did say that Givens will always be an Oriole when he was traded.  So there’s that.
