I just noticed our pal @scOtt had commented on this video of the Means no-hitter.  Miss that guy.  Win this one for Scott, John.

One of the wild things about looking back on that no-hitter (all 27 outs HERE if you want to see a condensed version) is how far the team has come in about 28 months. That day, we had:

Pedro Severino catching. 

Pat Valaika at 2B. 

Ramon Urias at SS. 

Maikel Franco at 3B (replaced by Rio Ruiz for defense).

DJ Stewart in RF. 

Jorge Lopez starting the previous game.

Matt Harvey following him the next day. 

The team John Means is about to walk onto is totally different than anything he’s ever seen or played with before. I know he’s been there for lots of it, just as a teammate — but I think it’ll be totally different to finally be a part of it. I’m really excited for him.

Solid start that met or beat these expectations. 

If it wasn't Goldschmidt-Arenado-Contreras coming up, he may have been sent out for the 6th. With the three biggest power threats due up I liked the timing of the pull.

He was certainly throwing strikes but not a lot of swing and miss. Fastball only 91-92.  I’m hoping he can get it back up to 93-94.  When he’s on, he gets a lot of swings and misses on that fastball/changeup combo.
